How a call goes

From the phone call to a warm house — here's the whole thing.

No mystery, no runaround. This is what happens after you get in touch, every time.

Step 01

You reach a person

Frankie or Hans picks up — not a call center. You describe what's happening and we tell you honestly how soon we can be there.

Step 02

We show up when we said

You get a real arrival window and a call if anything shifts. Drop cloths go down before the toolbox does.

Step 03

A proper diagnosis

We test the system instead of guessing at it — the licensed owner doing the work is the one figuring out what's wrong.

Step 04

Your options, in plain English

What's wrong, what it takes to fix it, and whether repairing or replacing makes more sense for your house. You decide, not us.

Step 05

Done right, cleaned up

The work gets finished properly, the basement gets left tidy, and we walk you through what we did before we go.

Why homeowners call us back

Two licensed owners. No handoffs, no guessing.

We're not the biggest heating and cooling company around Boston. What we are is the one where the people who answer the phone are the same people who show up, diagnose the problem and stand behind the work.

01

Decades of hands-on experience

Frankie and Hans have more than 60 years between them on residential and commercial systems. Old boilers, odd retrofits, houses that were never built for ductwork — they've seen it before.

02

You get an owner, not a script

Call and you reach Frankie or Hans directly. They diagnose the system themselves, explain what they found in plain language, and don't hand you off to a salesperson.

03

We treat your house like a house

Drop cloths down, boots wiped, work area cleaned up before we leave. It's your home, not a job site — and the basement should look better when we go than when we came.

04

Done right the first time

That's how they were taught and it's how they still work. Take the time to find the real cause, size and install it properly, and you're not calling us back in six months for the same thing.

05

Licensed, insured, and current

Massachusetts general contractor, sheet metal and oil burner licenses, OSHA certification, Universal Freon Recovery, and ongoing training as equipment and codes change.

06

From here, working here

Medford and Malden are home. The people we work for are neighbors, and reputation around here travels fast — which is exactly the incentive you want in a contractor.

Our story

A Medford company, serving Greater Boston since 1990.

Priority One Services started the way most good trade businesses do: two people who knew heating and cooling inside out and got tired of watching work get done halfway. Frankie was born and raised in Medford and has been in the field since 1990. Hans lives in Malden and has spent more than 25 years on boilers, furnaces, central air and controls.

They're equal partners, they hold the same licenses, and they still run the calls themselves. The philosophy hasn't changed since day one — take the time to do it right the first time, respect the customer's home, and leave a system the next person can actually service.

Today that work runs from Medford and Malden through Boston and out to the suburbs — single-family homes, condos, small commercial buildings and the property managers who look after them.

Talk to us about your system

On the job

The people you call are the people who show up.

Most of the work happens in basements, crawl spaces and mechanical rooms — rough conditions, tight spaces, old houses that never made anything easy. That's where the experience shows.

Frankie and Hans are on the job with the crew, not running it from an office. When you talk to someone about your system, you're talking to the person who will be standing in front of it.

Seasonal maintenance

The cheapest repair is the one you never need.

Most no-heat calls we run in January were preventable in October. A seasonal tune-up catches the worn part, the drifting control and the clogged drain before they turn into an emergency on the coldest night of the year.

  • Fall heating check before the first cold snap
  • Spring AC check before the first heat wave
  • Oil boiler cleaning and efficiency testing
  • Priority scheduling for maintenance customers

Common questions

Things homeowners ask us most.

My heat just went out — how fast can you get here?
Call us. No-heat and no-cool calls go to the front of the schedule, and in most cases we're out same day or next day depending on where you are and when you call. If it's an emergency, the phone is faster than the form: (508) 982-7953.
Should I repair my system or replace it?
It depends on age, the specific failure and what the rest of the system looks like. As a rule, if the unit is past 15 years, the repair is a major component, and it's been giving trouble every season, replacement usually wins. If it's a solid system with one bad part, we fix it. We'll give you the honest version either way — and a free consultation if you're weighing a replacement.
Do you charge for estimates?
Consultations and estimates on new systems and larger projects are free. For a service call on an existing problem, there's a diagnostic visit — we'll tell you what that is up front when you call, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.
Who actually shows up at my house?
Frankie or Hans — the owners. Both are licensed Massachusetts contractors with sheet metal and oil burner licenses, OSHA certification and Universal Freon Recovery certificates. You're not getting a dispatcher's best guess of who's available.
Do you work on oil systems and oil tanks?
Yes. Oil boiler service and cleaning, oil burner repairs, and oil tank installation and removal are all in-house. A lot of Greater Boston housing stock still runs on oil and we've been servicing it since the beginning.
How often should heating and cooling equipment be serviced?
Once a year per system — heating checked in the fall, cooling in the spring. Oil equipment should be cleaned annually. It's the single cheapest thing you can do to avoid an emergency call and to get the full life out of the equipment.
